| Animatronic Peacock |
Stock #: 2035 |
This model is a male Indian Peafowl. The short video "Pledge" shows a nice close up of the movements and look of this amazing rig! There is also a short clip from a Chrysler commercial showing the peacock "showing off" near a new minivan. At the end, there is a little computer graphics over the puppet with the crown dropping.
Live peacocks present the upper tail "coverts" feathers mostly in the springtime. This is the national bird of India. They can live to be over 40 years old!
This model utilizes "dropped" feathers. Live peacocks drop their feathers seasonally, which are picked up by enterprising birders and sold. The birds are not harmed in any way. The actual tail feathers present brilliant colors due to an optical interference phenomenon called the Bragg Reflection. The fiber like components called barbules created the foundation of the color. This interference based structural color is important in producing the peacock's iridescent hues (which shimmer and change with viewing angle).
Animation includes two axis head movement, neck leans forward & back, and the tail lifts and expands. Used by many filmakers to recreate the mating ritual of this beautiful bird.
This model is exactly to adult peacock scale. The rig is always cleaned, preened, and mechanically tested prior to being released for a shoot. It usually is accompanied, technically supported, and performed by an Animal Makers' trained crew member.
Please allow a minimum of two weeks to schedule and prep this rig for your show.
